The Top Tiny Homes of 2022
It’s been another huge year for tiny houses, and as 2022 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the incredible homes we’ve had the privilege of featuring. From off-grid abodes to tropical escapes, let’s take a look back at some of the top tiny house tours of the year.
Tom & Caro’s Off Grid Tiny House
One of the standout homes of the year was Tom and Caro’s off-grid tiny house. What makes this home truly special is that it was entirely constructed as a DIY project by the couple. Inspired by permaculture principles, this tiny house is a testament to their hard work and attention to detail.
Fully off-grid, the home incorporates ingenious ideas like a solar hot water system and a rainwater collection system. But beyond its sustainability features, what truly sets this home apart is the memories it holds. Every screw, every piece of furniture, and every detail represents a special moment in their journey of building this dream home.
Vicky’s Tropical Tiny Home
Vicky’s tiny house is not only a beautiful home; it’s also a story of resilience and living more lightly on the earth. After losing her house and possessions in the Christchurch earthquakes, Vicky made the bold decision to start anew and build a tiny home.
Situated amongst the tropical forest of the Sunshine Coast, Vicky’s tiny home perfectly complements its natural surroundings. The interior decoration, meticulously curated by Vicky herself, reflects the tranquility of the forest. Losing everything in the earthquakes motivated Vicky to embrace a simpler lifestyle focused on personal happiness rather than material possessions.

Evan’s Pumice Home
Evan’s small home, aptly named Pumice, is like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Constructed with structural straw and rendered with lamb, this home has a distinct shape that resembles a carved rock. The use of structural straw not only provides excellent insulation but also allows for unparalleled creativity in shaping the home.
The seamless integration of the walls and roof creates a sense of safety and security. The home feels like a sanctuary high above the cliffs of Dunedin, overlooking the South Pacific Ocean. Evan’s dedication to craftsmanship is evident in every detail of this remarkable project.
Matias and Lucila’s DIY Tiny Home
Matias and Lucila’s tiny home is a testament to what can be achieved with limited building experience. With the rising cost of housing, their affordable and beautiful home offers hope to those seeking a more accessible housing option.
Constructing the home for less than $20,000, Matias and Lucila utilized bricks and other thrifty materials to bring their vision to life. The result is a stunning home filled with handcrafted fixtures and furniture. Every item in the home tells a story and showcases their creativity and craftsmanship.
Shani & Christian’s Pop Top Tiny Home
Shani and Christian’s tiny home is truly unique, thanks to its pop-top roof design. The extra-high sleeping loft makes this home stand out among other tiny houses. Their thoughtful planning and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of the home.
For Shani and Christian, working from home in their photography business was a priority. Their tiny home provides the perfect workspace while still offering a comfortable living environment. The design choices, such as the ability to stand in the loft, make this home both practical and visually appealing.
The EcoFlow Tiny House
No round-up of the top tiny homes of 2022 would be complete without mentioning “The EcoFlow Tiny House.” This new addition to our collection is a reflection of our dedication to sustainable living. We are particularly excited to share this home with our viewers and continue our mission of promoting eco-friendly living.
As we look back on the incredible tiny houses featured in the past year, we want to express our gratitude to the homeowners who opened their doors to us and shared their stories. We would also like to thank our audience for their continued support and enthusiasm.
